This article responds to Stapleton and Helms-Park's (2008) commentary on “Voice in academic writing: The rhetorical construction of author identity in blind manuscript review” (Matsuda & Tardy, 2007), clarifying what seem to be some of the misunderstandings about the study, particularly those related to the definition of voice.
